"Attention! May I have your attention please?"
The gruff voice of the EHL Commissioner rumbled to each corner of the noisy conference room, quickly quelling the raucous conversation like a flame being snuffed out on a candle. Visibly worn and exhausted, Gary Bettpony sat in a large, plush leather chair at the head of a long, mahogany meeting table. He was flanked on both sides by EHL Vice President Coltin Campbell on his left and new EHL Head of Player Relations and EHL Disciplinarian Brendan Shaneighan on his right. Also in attendance were the six representatives of the six illustrious EHL franchises. Seated closest to the commissioner was the representative of the recently crowned Celestia Cup Champion Canterlot Equestriens, Princess Luna. Previously at the conclusion of EHL Season One
Back at the EHL offices, Gary Bettpony was closing up the building for the summer. With the Celestia Cup making the rounds in Canterlot and the EHL Draft a month away, it was time for the league to go on a short hiatus. Gary closed his office door and locked it, with the noise of the lock echoing through the hallway. As the Commissioner trotted his way toward the exit, the lights suddenly flicked off.
"That's strange. Is there a power outage?"
Gary pulled a flashlight from his briefcase and turned it on. Right as he was about to leave the building, the main doors were bolted shut and an eerie red glow emanated from the receptionist's desk. Gary saw that the glow was from the telephone. Confused and slightly apprehensive, Commissioner Bettpony answered the phone.
"H-hello? Who is this?"
"Why hellooo Commissioner Bettpony! I certainly know who you are, but I'm quite sure you do not know who I am."
